Come, Holy Spirit, and fill the hearts of your faithful. Enkindle in us the fire of your love, especially these petitions for which we pray:
For God’s universal Church, particularly the Parish of St. Peter The Apostle, in Oakland, Maryland, that the Holy Spirit would equip its leadership, its Ministers, and all who actively assist in the many parish ministries, that we would seek God’s perfect will in our plans….
For each soul that attends the many Masses and services in our Parish, that their hearts would be surrendered to our Lord, to accomplish His perfect will…
For an increase to Priestly, Diaconate and Religious vocations in our Parish, in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and the entire Church…
For each person on our Parish prayer list, for each Mass intention this week, and for all of those who are unable to make it to our Parish services for any reason, that the Holy Spirit would heal, nurture, transform and renew each person, as they pray to Our Lord for His continued Grace…
That God’s healing power would move among us, and especially that He would bring Peace, Joy and Surrender to our hearts, as we come to know that we are the Body of Christ, and all rely upon one another in this life to gain our Heavenly life…
We pray for our Nation, our whole World, all of our leadership and all persons to open their hearts to our Creator’s purpose for this planet and our action upon it…
We pray for a hunger for God’s Word within our own hearts, for specific time each day to join with His Spirit in deep, refreshing, and transformative prayer…
We pray for our families, for our siblings who have gone before us, for those who are still living who do not know Jesus, for our kids who no longer live a life of faith, and for our grandchildren/Great-grandchildren, that those seeds we planted over the years will sprout by God’s Holy Spirit and that He would nurture them to become hungry for a personal knowledge of the Lord and His Church…
We pray for our local community, that homelessness, substance-abuse, mental illness, faithlessness, despondency, despair, depression, and all human disorder would lessen, and that those who are stuck in crises would seek God’s grace and help from those who can assist them back to normalcy…
For Churches to preach the Truth of God’s Revelation with Power and Example, and for all people to recognize their Spiritual calling, as designed by our Creator…
That the spirit of fear, so prevalent in our world, would be conquered by Faith in Jesus Christ, and that as we remember there are 365 times in Scripture where we are told, “Be Not Afraid!” we will trust the Lord in our times of testing and struggle…
That we may come to understand that our own particular circumstance are not a result of God’s wrath or disapproval, that despite our situation, we are part of His Body whom He dearly loves, and that we still have a genuine Purpose and Calling to assist the Lord in His work on this earth, globally and locally…
Finally, we pray for ourselves, for our own needs, for a deeper understanding of how we can serve Jesus, and be a Light to all of those we encounter. We pray against a spirit of fear that leads us away from Jesus and draws us into ourselves; we pray for a new fire of Christ’s holy Presence within our hearts, a renewal that each one of us matters in God’s grand scheme for the world, at this particular time in history.
Lord, in all of these petitions, hear our prayer, and bring us a fresh perspective of who we are in Your eyes. We ask these things through Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in unity with the Father and Holy Spirit, our One, True and Holy God. AMEN
