Our parish was founded in 1852 in Garrett County, Maryland. In 2027, we will host several events and special initiatives to celebrate our 175th anniversary in Oakland and McHenry. We are one parish with two locations in Garrett County, MD!
We hope you will join us in the following two opportunities to share your faith legacy for generations to come at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Parish.

175th Anniversary Brick Campaign
The Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary Team invites you to sponsor a brick in memory or honor of your loved ones. The 4”x8” bricks will be installed in our commemorative sidewalk in front of our historic church in Oakland.
Proceeds from this program will be used to build a pavilion at St. Peter at the Lake in McHenry, MD, in memory of Thomas W. Briggs, our beloved parishioner and member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1771. Only 500 bricks will be sold.

We’re collecting treasured memories (family traditions, first impressions, faith formation stories, etc.) of our parish for our 175th Anniversary "Legacy of Faith” celebration.

We plan to create a multimedia storytelling campaign filled with permission-based quotes, select stories and pictures.
